Tips and suggestions depending on then event plus a link to a suitable band for a wide range of different events. |
|
Mixed age audience, plus long and late hours generally fit a small band best. Book well in advance. If you are having a service at the reception venue ask the band if they have a pianist for the service. Often playing gentle music for reception and then lively for dancing in the evening. |

Wedding Receptions |

Daytime working week has to a small band, since you are unlikely to attract a large band unless a very large budget. Dates don’t fill up as quickly as weekend evenings but book as soon as your dates are clear, since fewer bands are available for this type of work. |

Corporate Entertainment |
|
Most Bands are happy to perform concerts, since it gives them scope to play for more challenging material. If you are unsure of your numbers the Bands might entertain a small fee plus a cut of the door rather than a fixed fee. Shaston Jazz & Swing aim to do one Charity event per quarter for a reduced fee. |

If power available, a Big Band or Wessex Military can be a nice change from a Brass Band. If no power, pick Wessex Military Band. Don’t forget car park spaces for the players ( 30+) and close access for the heavy gear. |

Suit small or larger Band, check the band covers the styles of music you want. For the larger Bands make sure you have room for them to change and leave instrument cases. Generally a round of drinks at one of the intervals normally goes down well. If going for a Big Band just book them for the Dance bit. Parking for 20. |
