The band was formed in 1969 and had its first get together in Wareham. (Hence the Purbeck tag) Since then the band has performed in many of the concert halls in the south of England and has a loyal following of concert and dancing audiences. We have a library of over 650 numbers covering ‘old time’ to big band jazz.

Over the years the band has performed at many events for charity and raised 10’s 000 of pounds for good causes.

The band is Ridgeway Radio’s Big Band and has regular radio slot for patients at Dorset County Hospital. The band has just finished it’s second CD and a donation to charity is given annually from sales. When appropriate and available the band performs with solo singers.

The band normally includes 4 trumpets, 5 Saxophones, 4 Trombones plus a  Rhythm section of Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Piano & Drums.
